Label grammar for seed cards

Inside the Paper Wallet Record Center, labels are a language. If each person invents their own dialect, the archive becomes a puzzle instead of a map.
Three fields that earn their ink
We ask learners to reserve space for (1) an ISO-style date, (2) a version letter, and (3) a location code that points to an index — never to a secret. Everything else is optional commentary that can live on a cover legend.
Version letters beat adjectives
“Final” and “updated” age poorly. A simple A → B → C trail tells future readers which sheet supersedes which, especially when older cards are kept for audit rather than destroyed immediately.
Location codes stay boring
Codes like DR2-TOP or SAFE-L should be dull on purpose. Clever mnemonics tempt people to encode meaning that belongs elsewhere. Map the boring codes in the Record Center index where they can be revised after a move.
Practice before permanence
Offline Ledger Studio begins on scrap paper so grammar mistakes are cheap. Only after a clean dual-witness pass do we suggest transferring the pattern to longer-lived stock.
